Major initiatives
The Crown Lands Division is undertaking a range of major initiatives including the Wagga Wagga Riverside Precinct project, HMAS Adelaide project and Tweed sand bypassing project.
In 2008 the Department of Lands and Wagga Wagga City Council entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to develop an integrated Masterplan for the Wagga Wagga Riverside Precinct and its environs.
In February 2007, the Australian Government announced the HMAS Adelaide would be gifted to the NSW Government for the purpose of creating an artificial reef and recreational dive site. The ship will be scuttled in waters off Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast in late 2009.
The Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypass Project is a joint NSW and Queensland initiative restoring the southern beaches of the world-renowned Gold Coast, while improving navigation to the entrance of the Tweed River.
The Department of Lands has negotiated the legal and operational framework that has allowed one of the worlds largest proposed wind farms to be established near Silverton north of Broken Hill.
The Premier Nathan Rees announced (Wednesday 3 June) that the proposed project has government approval.
