Food and Beverage Outlets on Crown Reserves - Policy Position 2005
Approval was given on 1st February 1996 to a policy position for food and beverage outlets on Crown reserves as a guide to reserve trust managers, groups and individuals.
The Department subsequently distributed the policy position with explanatory notes to regional officers and local councils. The Department of Planning issued Circular F14 - Restaurants in Open Space Areas - on 16 December 1996, a document that complements the policy position.
Version 2 came into effect on 14th June 2001 and provided for plans of management to be prepared for any proposal to establish a food and beverage outlet on Crown reserves and included a range of issues to be considered in preparing plans of management for food and beverage outlets. The policy position also drew attention to the observations of the Land and Environment Court in regard to public recreation reserves and the objects and principles of Crown land management contained in the Crown Lands Act 1989.
Version 3 of the policy position is an update of the previous version and has minor changes that reflect the current liquor licensing provisions.
