Introducing the Land and Property Management Authority
A new agency, the Land and Property Management Authority, was established under the NSW Government restructure that commenced on 1 July 2009.
The LPMA comprises the staff and functions of the Department of Lands, the State Property Authority, the Lake Illawarra Authority, the Hunter Development Corporation, the Office of Rural Affairs and the Office of Biofuels.
The logo and identity of the LPMA will be applied to this web site and, in time, to the products and information of the former Department of Lands.
In the meantime, all Department of Lands branded materials, including brochures, fact sheets, bulletins, circulars and advisories, are part of the new Authority and remain operative. These communications will be re-branded with the LPMA identity over a period of time.
The LPMA represents knowledge, heritage, and responsible land management. Since we documented the first State land records, we have continued as the guardians of all land information in NSW. Today, with new technologies and greater expertise in the field, we are a world leader in land information and management.
From the first handwritten land records to the powerful online land data systems we use today, Lands continues as a pioneering force in land management. Our commitment to you is to ensure we continue to provide products and services that are reliable from the ground up.
Our Land and Property Information (LPI) Division is an internationally recognised 'one stop shop' for all of your land administration needs. Services within LPI include land title registration, property information, valuation, surveying and mapping.
Crown Lands Division practices sustainable management of state-owned lands for the benefit of the people of NSW managing a total area of approximately 12.7 million hectares.
State Parks comprises 10 public reserves, situated in accessible locations throughout NSW. Each park provides a unique natural setting where you can enjoy a range of affordable recreational and leisure experiences. Whether you are planning a weekend outing or a longer holiday, we provide you with the perfect playground.
Soil Conservation Service is a specialist conservation earthmoving and soil consultancy business. We are well established as the leading authority in planning, design and construction of soil conservation earthworks, rehabilitation and revegetation, and training in conservation earthmoving, urban erosion and sediment control.
We have a strong history with rural and regional New South Wales - maintaining offices in 58 regional locations across the State. The Office of Rural Affairs develops and maintains close links with regional stakeholders and communities across the state to identify issues, gaps and opportunities for the people and communities of country NSW. The Office also works with the Regional Communities Consultative Council (RCCC), to provide a direct link between the NSW rural community and Government.
The Geographical Names Board was created in 1996 to address inconsistencies in the recording and use of place names in NSW. The Board has the power to assign, alter or discontinue names of geographical features, and to investigate their form, spelling, history, meaning and pronunciation.
Our Minor Ports Program provides the commercial fishing industry with well-maintained port infrastructure facilities as well as safe, secure port access.
The Emergency Information Coordination Unit (EICU) ensures that emergency service organisations have the best spatial and related spatial data available to deal with multi agency emergencies, such as terrorism.
